Love Island Runners-Up Matthew and Cartier Have Called It Quits
In what comes as sad news for many Love Island fans, this year's runners-up Matthew Zukowski and Cartier Surjan have called it quits.
While they were never in an official relationship, the pair had said they were keen to explore their connection post-show after having paired up late in the experience.
However, they both took to Instagram today to share that they have parted ways romantically.
"I've made the decision that Matthew and I are better off staying good friends rather than in a relationship," said Cartier, "he's a beautiful guy no doubt about it. . .hope you all can respect my decision and support both of us in finding true love."
Meanwhile, Matthew also confirmed that it had been Cartier's decision to end things, saying, "moving forward I would just like to let you all know that Cartier has decided that the two of us are better off suited as friends."
"I respect Cartier and her decision. . . she is [truly] a beautiful girl and I wish the best for her in the future!"
The pair's separation means the only remaining couples from this season are winning pair Josh Packham and Anna McEvoy, along with Jessie Wynter and Todd Elton.
