Here's All the Clues as to The Masked Singer's Robot True Identity
The very first season of The Masked Singer Australia has certainly been kicked off with a bang. Among the first round of performers, one of the stand outs was the singer currently known as 'Robot'. Not only did they serenade the audience with their rendition of 'Hold Back the River' by James Bay, but they also gave us viewers our first hints as to their true identity.
Here's everything we currently know about Robot:
- They were "created by the digital age"
- They "care about the real world", as evidenced by them picking up rubbish in bags labelled 'U' and 'N'
- They have "always been connected to the water", and "grew up surrounded by gold"
- They say their favourite animal was a butterfly, but that they now prefer "something that goes tweet"
- They "headed East" to further their career, but "soon realised others were controlling [their] program"
Based on these clues, as well as the sound of Robot's voice, many are guessing they may be former teen sensation Cody Simpson.
The robot claims they came to fame in the digital age, and Cody scored a record deal after his covers on YouTube went viral. It is also apparent that Cody cares about the planet as much Robot seems to, given he refers to himself as an "environmentalist" in his Instagram bio. On top of that, Cody has worked as an official 'Ocean Advocate' with the United Nations Development Programme, which seems to hint at both a love of the environment and the 'water'. It has been speculated that Robot saying they grew up "surrounded by gold" could hint at Cody having been born on the Gold Coast.
To add fuel to the fire, Cody was also connected to the water though his past swimming pursuits, which led to him winning two gold medals at the 2009 Queensland Swimming Championships. Although it's not yet clear how exactly the clues about a butterfly and "something that goes tweet" may relate to Cody, some fans have pointed out that Cody is very active on Twitter. Lastly, Cody "headed East" when he moved to America, but parted ways with his record label in 2014 in order to become an independent artist. It seems the creative differences he experienced with Atlantic records may just relate to the description of Robot having felt controlled.
Although Cody Simpson and Robot seem to have a lot in common, we will all have to wait patiently until Robot's identity is officially revealed.
