This Restaurant Ferris Wheel Is Definitely Worth Forking Out on
One of the greatest things about Sydney is that you can do and see so much for free. Whether you want to have a picnic in The Royal Botanic Gardens overlooking the harbour or feel like getting a fresh breeze with the Bondi to Bronte walking track, you really can soak up the city without dropping your weekly salary, which is nice considering the cost of living isn't so friendly.
That being said, there are certain occasions where you don't mind spending a little extra cash and treating yourself to a unique experience.
Altum Restaurant's Ferris Wheel Dining at Luna Park is one of these times. Running Sundays until December 29, 2019, It's exactly what it says on the tin — you wine and dine with someone special in none other than a ferris wheel carriage. If that in and of itself isn't novelty enough, then add to that the fact that it's at Sydney's iconic Luna Park, complete with panoramic views of Darling Harbour.
With an arrival time of 6pm, you are treated to canapés and champagne while you wait to officially board your carriage. Upon embarkment, you're treated to appetisers and complementary wine, before you start moving onwards and upwards (literally and metaphorically) and taking in views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House in broad daylight.
By the time you've done a few rotations (and grabbed a few snaps for the 'gram), you're treated to main courses and more matching beverages in time for golden hour. On a good day, you're in the perfect position to take in a Sydney sunset in all its glory. My waiter told me there's an average of two proposals every experience — and I imagine this is the lighting in which it happens.
